First, A Little NASCAR History:
NASCAR found it's beginnings on February 21st, 1948 by Bill France Sr. Originally, there were three divisions, the Modifieds, Roadsters and Strictly Stock.
The first race in the "strictly stock" division was held on June 19th, 1949 on a 3/4 mile dirt track called Charlotte Speedway. Jim Roper won that first race. This division grew and became the Sprint Cup Series as we know it today.
